Brides of Christ

{repost from 6/2021}

Down in adoration falling,
Lo! The ancient host we hail!
(Intro Tantrum Ergo)

On the feast of Corpus Christi (thurs.) and on the external feast of the same (today) my beautiful girls received their Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion.

Avila, being filled with the Holy Ghost, fully initiated into the faith she is strengthened to give her life for.

Lourdes, becoming the bride of Christ.

Each of them called to a new mission – both in their relationships with Him but also in how they must walk in this world.

As fire and purity and light.

As ones who must guard ever closer their minds and hearts, bodies and souls.

As brides of Him who will ask great things of them. Who has already asked great things of them.

These special days are that much more when dad isn’t here. It helps and doesn’t help that he still sees them, that he is more fully united to them in these Sacraments than if he was sitting in that pew. But, as in each Sacrament already, heaven touches earth in a special way for them. Through the reception of Jesus and the Holy Ghost. Through these kisses of heaven, the place where dad is.

And how do we know dad is there? More on that later…

I pray so much strength and holiness over theses girls. I pray they will know clearly who He is, His voice, His vocation for their lives. I pray they know how powerful they are in their femininity. I pray they seek and find and cast the net and bring as many souls with them as they can on their own narrow way.

I encourage you to read and meditate on the Sequence for Corpus Christi. So beautiful, this manna from heaven. So fitting we must be nourished with the Body and Blood of Jesus to be the Body of Jesus.

Michael, I know you are so proud. I know you have carried our girls to the bosom of Christ. I know you are more powerful next to Him, worshipping Him in our stead. Please continue to pray for them, for your boys, for your former bride.

Corpus Christi, our foreshadowing of where you are. United to our Bridegroom in this Sacrament on earth, you united to Him at each moment in heaven.

Congratulations, my beautiful daughters of Christ!
